Cabo San Lucas is one of the most breathtaking places you can visit, and it is definitely a favorite spot for millions of tourists each year. It is popular for its beautiful warm beaches with white sand and turquoise water, vibrant nightlife, a wide range of activities and sports, and plenty of sunshine all year long.
However, there is a rainy season in Cabo, and you need to know all the information about it if you plan to visit the city in these months so you are fully prepared.
In this guide, we’ll tell you everything you need to know. However, finding the best time to visit Cabo depends on your personal interests, whether you prefer the warm temperatures and are looking to do outdoor activities on sunny days, or if you prefer cool evenings and calm ocean conditions.
When is the rainy season in Cabo?
Cabo’s rainy season typically runs from July to October, with September experiencing the heaviest rainfall. Expect around 3.75 inches of rain throughout the month, often in short but intense tropical showers. While it doesn’t rain every day, be prepared for humid weather and occasional storms.
Cabo is the perfect city for vacations because it is sunny all year round and has almost no rain. It has an average of 360 days of sun, and those 5 days of rainfall are mostly in September. The average rainfall is 3.75 inches in total, which is pretty low. Even if you are visiting this month, you won’t experience rain every day.
Ideal for budget travelers: Cabo San Lucas hurricane season.
Another important fact about Cabo weather is that these annual rainfall months are the Pacific hurricane season, especially between August and October, before whale-watching season, which runs from December to mid-April. This phenomenon rarely happens in Cabo, but it is something to be aware of before visiting. We recommend checking weather conditions, alerts, and news about tropical disturbances in the area.
A great advantage of visiting during this hurricane season is that you will find fewer tourists and many perks during your stay, like lower prices for hotel rooms, travel deals, discounts, promotions, and more. Also, if you practice sport fishing, this is the best season for deep-sea fishing.
Don’t forget to check the weather to ensure you will enjoy the perfect Cabo vacation.
The Best Weather for your Visit: Cabo average temperatures during the year
Cabo San Lucas has four seasons, but through all seasonal variations, the average temperatures remain comfortable. For the sunny weather during the summer months, the average temperature is 90 ºF, and August is the hottest month of the year. If you want to experience the best summer and you don’t mind the high temperatures, this is the perfect month for you.
During the winter and the rainy season, the average temperature is 70 ºF, and at night the minimum temperature that could reach is 65 ºF. We recommend packing a light jacket to use at night since it is windy and it can get chilly. The coolest months are January and February, so if you prefer to experience the winter, these are the best months.
If you are looking for mild temperatures, then you need to visit Cabo San Lucas during spring break or fall. The average temperature is 75 – 80 ºF, so it is very comfortably warm and has low humidity.
Cabo water temperatures
To enjoy the warm water temperature in Cabo, you need to visit between July and early November. You will find the warmest beaches during these months, ideal to practice snorkeling, scuba diving, and other water sports.
However, be aware that the water temperature is fairly warm all year round, including the Cabo rainy season, so you don’t need to worry about it.
Trying to avoid high season, looking for fewer crowds? The best time to visit Cabo San Lucas.
Deciding when to come to Cabo San Lucas depends on what you want to experience here. As we mentioned, if you prefer warm weather and sunny days, then you should schedule your visit for the summer months. Be aware that this is the most popular season to travel.
If you want to experience colder Los Cabos weather, then we recommend visiting in winter. It is cold enough to bring just a light sweater! So it is comfortable, and you can find lower prices on accommodations and tours.
For any fishing enthusiast, it is best to visit in late summer or fall. You will also find most fishing tournaments during these months. This is the beginning of the tropical storms and hurricane season, and even though the city gets only rainstorms, it is best to double-check Cabo weather information.
If you are visiting for a whale-watching tour, then the best time to visit Cabo San Lucas is between mid-December and mid-April; that’s when gray whales migrate. At La Isla Tour, we offer whale-watching tours that cruise around the emblematic landmarks of the Sea of Cortez and explore whale habitats.

Days That Stay With You
Real stories from guests who found more than they expected on the water.
“Yesterday was truly an incredible day on the Sidhi.
From the moment we set out, it was clear this was going to be something special.
We saw so many whales, swam at a beautiful secluded beach, snorkeled, and enjoyed a perfect lunch. Everything flowed so easily and felt completely taken care of.
Lorena and Alejandro were wonderful. They were warm, attentive, and genuinely kind, and it was clear how much care they put into making the day special. Every detail was thoughtfully managed, and spending the day with them felt easy and relaxed.
The service and experience were truly exceptional and something we will remember for a long time. When we come back to Cabo, there is no doubt that we will be booking through Isla Tours again.
I also want to thank you personally, Paola. The care and attention you provided throughout the booking process made such a difference. You were incredibly responsive and helpful, even on Christmas Eve, to make sure everything was set up perfectly.
That level of service is rare and so appreciated.”

“A beautiful day exploring the waters off Cabo San Lucas with La Isla Tour!
Visiting El Arco and Pelican Rock in our comfortable, well-equipped private boat was the highlight of our family’s vacation. Setting anchor off a beach we had all to ourselves so we could swim, lounge, and relax was amazing!
Captain Jaciel and First mate Max made sure we were well taken off as they guided us through our nearly four hour adventure.
Fresh guacamole with salsa and chips provided by the crew tasted even better after a swim accompanied by our own adult beverages! Cozy loungers with pillows made us feel like VIP’s. Streaming our favorite tunes to the boats incredible sound system added to our fun!
Comparing the costs of other tour operators this was a bargain considering everything was personalized for our comfort and experience.
One on one attention to detail and guest satisfaction at La Isla Tour was a winner for us! A well deserved five star ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ review by our family!”

“Lorena and team on the Manta VIP boat tour were amazing.
Communication with Gabriela and Paola were seamless. From the beginning – communication with Gabriela and Paola were seamless. Very responsive.
We Celebrated with a large group of 14 people on the Manta boat. Our group was welcomed with drinks and refreshments. The crew on the boat were polite and very friendly.
Maria took photos of us during the tour and we loved them all. The boat was clean and the built in speaker system was great for our playlist.
We enjoyed the floating pad to lounge on and snorkeled bit (although not much to see) still fun to swim around the coast line. The guys loved jumping from the top deck.
We appreciated the covered shaded areas and lounging on the couches. We ordered food and it was all delicious. The Manta VIP boat tour was our favorite part of Cabo.
Would highly recommend! 5-stars”
Snorkeling tour / Manta
“Fabulous experience!
Tony, our captain, could spot the whales from afar and head in their direction so we could see closer. Louisa, our guide, was precious! She was friendly and never tired of our questions.
Gabriella, owner I think, contacted us the night before to change our time due to low booking but we were unable to change. She kept our time and we ended up with a private tour on the beautiful waters of the Sea of Cortez!
We saw many whales, dolphins, and sea lions in their natural habitat.
I was shocked at the incredible communication from beginning to end. Eddie, our personal driver, picked us up from Pueblo Bonito Pacifica and returned us after we spent time downtown.
Incredible experience worth every penny! Highly recommend this trip.
