This means that the number of cases in the area has decreased drastically, all non-essential activities are open and active, and minimal restrictions exist.

All hotels, resorts, restaurants, and other services are open and active. Even though there are minimal restrictions and lower rates of contagiousness, you can ask each place about their safety and hygiene protocols to make sure that your stay here is as safe and comfortable as possible.

However, be aware that all vaccinated and unvaccinated passengers can be subject to health screenings and temperature checks. This is to ensure that all travelers have no symptoms.

The only mandatory thing is to fill in a health questionnaire before arrival and then at departure. This is just to confirm that you have no symptoms that could be related to COVID. You can take it online, and it will give you a QR code that you can screenshot and keep with you to show officials.

Yes, you can find a testing facility at the airport. You can take the antigen test, which costs around $25 and you get your results in 45 minutes. You can also take the PCR test, which is about $70 and you can get your results between 24-72 hours.

However, you can also find many other facilities around the city and you will be able to take covid tests if you need them. You can check locations on the Los Cabos Tourism Board website.

Quarantine requirement: is it needed?

No. Currently, you don’t need to quarantine at your arrival. Since Cabo San Lucas is at the lowest level of threat, you can go out and enjoy the city as soon as you land here.

Do I need to take a COVID test for my return flight?

Even though you don’t need to take tests to visit Mexico, this doesn’t rule out the possibility of needing it for your flight home. Depending on your country’s current safety protocols you might need to take a test.

We recommend researching previously on your country’s government website, embassy, or consulate. These official institutions can guide you through the current regulations and travel restrictions. Only through your local authorities, you will find out if you need to test negative to go back home.

What happens if I test positive while being in Cabo San Lucas?

In case you test positive prior to your return flight, you will need to follow CDC guidelines. If you have symptoms, you need to isolate yourself until the symptoms disappear, at least 23.5 hours free of fever without using fever-reducing medication.

If you have no symptoms, you need to isolate yourself for 3 full days, and then you can go out following the health and safety protocols recommended by the World Health Organization, like social distancing, wearing face masks, using hand sanitizer, and so on.

You can take COVID tests in testing facilities all around the city. Some hotels and resorts can even provide you with an antigen test administered by medical personnel.

The ideal will be to seek medical attention and wait for a negative COVID-19 test before traveling again.

However, be aware that for most countries, including the U.S., you don’t need a negative COVID-19 test to go back. Make sure to check the current guidelines that your home country has.

Do I need to take a COVID test to return to the U.S.?

No. Currently, The U.S. has no requirement for covid testing prior to travel. You can go back to the U.S. without needing a negative test. However, as we mentioned earlier, it is recommended to take tests and wait for a negative result to travel.

As always, it is best to check the U.S. guidelines before your trip so you can stay updated with the current safety protocols for international flights.
